PADI Night Diver Specialty Course at Underwater Vision
Experience the complete change of underwater landscape and creatures as the sun sets on Utila and day turns into night! Learn crucial night time navigational skills, how to communicate underwater at night and how to use a dive light and other equipment essential for scuba diving at night.
You will be amazed at the complete change in the creatures which make themselves visible on Utila’s reef once the sun sets.
Colours become more vibrant with the glow of your dive torch and the presence of phosphorescent plankton creates an underwater star scape that will blow your mind!
Spy on sleeping turtles, witness barracuda and octopus hunting, become privy to the nocturnal activities of lobster, shrimp and the coral and dive a completely different dive site than the one you dove during the day.
What will you learn?
Scuba diving at night teaches you to focus on what you can see in your light’s beam, on controlling your buoyancy by feel, on staying with your buddy and on paying attention to details you may overlook during the day. During three night dives, you’ll practice:
- Night dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and potential problems
- How to control your buoyancy at night
- Entries, exits and underwater navigation at night
- Nocturnal aquatic life, since many of the plants and animals you'll see are different from those which you would see during the day
You may be able to get college credit for the Night Diver course while you are on vacation in Utila!
Also, the first dive of this PADI Specialty Diver course may credit as an Adventure Dive toward your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification – ask your instructor about earning credit.
How can you start learning now?
Visit Underwater Vision to enroll in the course and get a PADI Night Diver Crew-Pak that includes your manual and video. By studying before class, you’ll be better prepared for the thrill of exploring the underwater world at night.
