Grace, one of our multi award winning PADI Platinum Course Directors, has been a scuba diver since she was 9 years old. Her passion for being on or in the water is second to none and is as vibrant today as it was in her childhood. We are thrilled to have her as part of our PADI Career Development Center and most importantly the lead on our Instructor Development team.
Grace enjoyed being a junior diver in her early days while living with her parents on a sailboat in the Pacific Ocean. She took her dive education as far as it would take her before her family moved back to the United States. After a few years living in the United States she chose to leave her “normal life” behind in pursuit of something more...her passion for the Ocean. Grace completed her PADI Divemaster course in the Caribbean off the coast of Panama before traveling to Utila, Honduras to complete her PADI Instructor Development Course at Underwater Vision. Since becoming a dive professional she has worked at various Dive Centers and Resorts on the island all while continuing to expand her diving knowledge and skills. No matter where Grace happened to work she inevitably drifted back to us to help out with our Instructor Training. Now she is an integral part of our Professional Level dive training team, mentoring our Divemasters in Training and teaching our IDCs and Master Scuba Diver Trainer prep courses and beyond as primary course director. Grace is proof that is it possible to live out your dreams working in paradise having a career in Scuba diving.
As one of the most experienced course directors on Utila Grace's passion for diving and especially teaching diving is instantly apparent when you see her working with her students at any level. She is patient, kind and most importantly interested in the success of her students. She have vast resources and contacts in the dive industry which she uses to help her alumni find work as PADI Instructors so they too can enjoy a career in diving. Her real strength however is her commitment to her students, making sure they feel comfortable through every step of their training and beyond.
When not teaching professional level courses, you will find Grace hunched over a dissected regulator or filling nitrox tanks in our compressor room in preparation for one of her TecRec Deep or TecRec Sidemount courses...or maybe she is preparing herself for a Trimix dive to 100+ meters!
