We are a family owned and operated dive resort located on the beautiful island of Utila, Bay Islands. Our family and staff have taken divers ranging from entry level to dive professional underwater for over 30 years. Since 1991 we've expanded our dive operation into the beautiful, spacious, and friendly resort that it is today.
Underwater Vision is owned and operated by the Coopers, a local family who have been in the business for forty years! Their ancestors were among the first European settlers to the island of Utila. They have also hired an array of multi lingual experienced PADI Instructors to ensure that all diving students receive great instruction. You are sure to be treated like a part of the family once you set your bag down at Underwater Vision, regardless of the duration of your stay!
At Underwater Vision Utila our vision is to ignite and nurture an unwavering passion among divers, fostering a deep-rooted connection to the vast oceans and their mesmerizing inhabitants. As a driving force for change, we are committed to shifting mindsets on a global scale, steering them towards a sustainable future.
In this journey we aim to reduce waste, conserve marine ecosystems, and safeguard the health of our oceans for generations to come.
We're dedicated to transforming our vision into tangible reality. Through our scuba classes and immersive diving experiences, we empower divers to embrace a passionate connection with the oceans. Our mission is to educate, engage, and inspire, turning passion into action beneath the waves.
From practicing responsible diving techniques to actively participating in underwater clean-up initiatives, we instill a sense of responsibility that echoes through every dive.
At Underwater Vision Utila, our dedicated team is the heartbeat of our mission. Comprising seasoned instructors, marine enthusiasts, and passionate conservationists, our staff embodies the spirit of ocean stewardship. Each instructor is a certified expert, not only in scuba techniques but also in fostering a love for marine life. Their commitment extends beyond teaching; it's about nurturing a connection between divers and the underwater world.
My family and I would love to welcome you to Utila and to our home! Underwater Vision and Hotel Trudy are the businesses we have been operating since 1991 but we have been taking visitors to explore the underwater realm for many years before that! I was born and raised on Utila and my family has lived here for many generations.
Grace, one of our multi award winning PADI Platinum Course Directors, has been a scuba diver since she was 9 years old. Her passion for being on or in the water is second to none and is as vibrant today as it was in her childhood. We are thrilled to have her as part of our PADI Career Development Center and most importantly the lead on our Instructor Development team.
Diego learned to dive in 2001 while on vacation in Thailand. Breathing underwater blew his mind and immediately upon completion of his PADI Open Water Diver course, he signed up for the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course, his PADI Rescue Diver course and ultimately for a Career as a PADI Instructor. Long gone are the days when he worked tirelessly in his suit and tie as a commodities trader.
Anthony was born on the mainland of Honduras in Tegucigalpa. When he was five years old his family moved to the Bay Islands, specifically the cays off Utila. This is when his love of the ocean started. Growing up his parents struggled to keep him out of the water.
Ashley was born and raised in Montreal, Canada but has been traveling around the world for the past few years. She developed her passion for the underwater world while volunteering in fiji where she learned how to scuba dive and plant corals. She has a degree in international law, however after visiting utila she chose to make Utila her home so she can continue to share her love for the ocean while teaching people how to make happy bubbles.
Originally from Canada, Cynthia is one of our PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainers. When she isn't in the water teaching scuba diving you can find her making sure all of the magical moments are captured on camera for our Instagram. After graduating from University with a degree in Business & Education, Cynthia began to climb the corporate ladder. While on vacation, she first came to Utila and completed her Open Water and Advanced Open Water Courses. She fell in love with being underwater and, from then on, took every opportunity she could to go diving.
Born and raised on Utila, you will be hard pressed to find someone who knows the reef around our island better! Captain Charles is fun, professional, and knowledgeable about the island and its creatures. Never hesitant to lend a hand on board our boats or to search for dolphins. He’s one of the best and always keeps an eye out for whale sharks!
I’ve been working at Underwater Vision since 1994 – that’s over 25 years of dedicated service! The owner of Underwater Vision asked me if I wanted to be the dive boat captain as he watched me grow up working on cargo and fishing boats and I couldn’t say no!
Renzo was born in Rio Tercero, Córdoba, Argentina. In its cold rivers, he learned how to snorkel and quickly became certain he wanted to spend as much time as possible underwater. It took him a while to make this dream real, but México gave him the opportunity to learn how to dive and become a Divemaster. For the last few years he has dedicated his life to sharing his passion for the ocean with divers from all over the globe. Making friends and sharing really special moments have been the best parts of this journey for him.
