My family and I would love to welcome you to Utila and to our home! Underwater Vision and Hotel Trudy are the businesses we have been operating since 1991 but we have been taking visitors to explore the underwater realm for many years before that! I was born and raised on Utila and my family has lived here for many generations.
Grace, one of our multi award winning PADI Platinum Course Directors, has been a scuba diver since she was 9 years old. Her passion for being on or in the water is second to none and is as vibrant today as it was in her childhood. We are thrilled to have her as part of our PADI Career Development Center and most importantly the lead on our Instructor Development team.
Diego learned to dive in 2001 while on vacation in Thailand. Breathing underwater blew his mind and immediately upon completion of his PADI Open Water Diver course, he signed up for the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course, his PADI Rescue Diver course and ultimately for a Career as a PADI Instructor. Long gone are the days when he worked tirelessly in his suit and tie as a commodities trader.
Anthony was born on the mainland of Honduras in Tegucigalpa. When he was five years old his family moved to the Bay Islands, specifically the cays off Utila. This is when his love of the ocean started. Growing up his parents struggled to keep him out of the water.
Traveling the world has always been Sofie's dream. During her travels she stumbled upon a true Caribbean paradise; Utila. This is where she discovered a whole new world through SCUBA. She completed PADI Open Water Diver course through to PADI Divemaster with the Zero to Hero Package (Open Water – Divemaster). She had worked as a divemaster for many years, and her passion for the marine world grew with every dive.
Originally from Canada, Cynthia is one of our PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainers. When she isn't in the water teaching scuba diving you can find her making sure all of the magical moments are captured on camera for our Instagram. After graduating from University with a degree in Business & Education, Cynthia began to climb the corporate ladder. While on vacation, she first came to Utila and completed her Open Water and Advanced Open Water Courses. She fell in love with being underwater and, from then on, took every opportunity she could to go diving.
Marta was born and raised in Spain, in a very small town called Illescas. Teaching is one her passions, and as soon as she earned her degree in Educational Science, she decided to engage in her love of travel where she has learned and grown through opportunities teaching in Sweden, Ireland and Mexico just to name a few. Her father introduced her to the fascinating underwater world of diving when she was 18. Since then she has been an active diver, diving whenever the opportunity to blow bubbles underwater arises, looking for nudibranchs and small creatures.
Ashley was born and raised in Montreal, Canada but has been traveling around the world for the past few years. She developed her passion for the underwater world while volunteering in fiji where she learned how to scuba dive and plant corals. She has a degree in international law, however after visiting utila she chose to make Utila her home so she can continue to share her love for the ocean while teaching people how to make happy bubbles.
I’ve been working at Underwater Vision since 1994 – that’s over 25 years of dedicated service! The owner of Underwater Vision asked me if I wanted to be the dive boat captain as he watched me grow up working on cargo and fishing boats and I couldn’t say no!
