The rescue course is designed for divers who are ready to start taking on a bigger role in the prevention and management of diver emergencies. This course is also the next step for those interested in becoming PADI Dive professionals. During the program you will expand your self rescue abilities as well as learn how to manage common and uncommon diver emergencies.

What You Should Expect
You can expect to have some SERIOUS fun! As what is often referred to as the MOST fun PADI course you will spend time in the classroom and confined water learning how to respond to diver emergencies before heading into the open water to demonstrate skill mastery.

+  What You'll Need

You will need to be certified as an advanced diver and have a desire to help others! In addition to completing the required performance requirements you will also need proof of CPR and first aid training within 24 months, if you need to meet this requirement on utila you can do so by taking one of our emergency First response courses! Some students will also need medical clearance from a medical professional prior to any in water activity. See the medical below!

+  How Long It Will Take

The program takes three and half days to complete but only 3- 4 hours of class time per day. Not including the Emergency First Response Course. The first day will be watching a video that ill outline the structure of the course. The next two days will be practicing all of the necessary skills to do a self rescue plus learning how to save another diver. On the last day you will have two dives to complete simulated rescues but also have time to enjoy a bit of scuba on each dive.

   Knowledge Development
This can either be done online prior to your arrival or in one of our air conditioned classrooms. We will start with videos and knowledge reviews prior to getting you in the water. If necessary we will also complete the EFR training.
   Confined Waters Training
Confined water training is necessary to introduce and practice skills in a calm, clear and controlled environment such as the above-mentioned self rescue, overexerted diver, panicked diver, missing diver and more!
   Open Water Sessions
The moment that you will be able to take all of your new found knowledge and skills to the reef! You will take one of our comfortable shaded boats to one of the many wonderful dive sites surrounding utila. During the rescue course you will have two open water dives / scenarios to demonstrate the ability to rescue not only yourself but other divers simulting emergencies.
